I was looking at a friends FB site and discovered I'd missed his Dec. 5th post about President Bush and the Avenger. I completely agree with his commentary and thought some of you would like to read it too.

While I never met President Bush, I do feel a connection to him having worked on the same type of plane he flew during World War II - the TBM Avenger. I've sat in the cockpit of the plane. It's absolutely mind boggling to think of an 18 year old at the controls, not just having to fly the plane, but fly it when people are shooting at you, and then have to return to a postage-stamp sized moving runway on the water. The fact that he was able to do so on 58 missions is certainly a tribute to Grumman's design, which was designed to be tough, reliable and easy to fly, but even a greater tribute to the men like President Bush who flew them. It is an honor to continue to help preserve their legacy. God speed, Mr. President.

Have a great day! :D
