Say There Salmoneye

Postby Alias » Wed Nov 11, 2020 2:21 pm

Paul, in another thread you posted the following.......

First thing I do to Winders 10 is install 'Classic Shell'...

Then I choose 'Windows 7' look and feel...

Makes me all warm and fuzzy knowing how to get around my puter...

And I second the Thank You! to our landlords...

I have windows XP on my computer. So, my question is, can I install 'Classic Shell' on my 'puter? If so, where do I go to install it? I'm presently running Google Crome. Thanks in advance, George

Nope, George...

Classic Shell is for Windows 8 and up...

It was designed to get around the (what I think is a) sloppy interface that works best with touch devices, and (again, IMNSHO) has no place on a desktop...

I still have an old netbook that runs XP, and it works fine for general surfing...

I do however love Windows 7, and will run it on this desktop till it is stone dead...

I was given a couple of puters by my Daughter that ran Win10, and I instantly hated them till I found Classic Shell...

It makes 10 look and act (mostly) like Windows has since Windows 98...

Thanks for your response SE. My computer has already outlived it's normal life span, but it still works fine for most things. However, I can't access my subscription to a genealogy site called 23and me. It worked fine for a short time but then it just quit. I guess I'll have to buy a new computer with all the current bells and whistles..................gfp
