No insult intended and not to start an argument but, I'd just point out that 100 years ago the people, both young and old had to deal with the pandemic of 1919.
That plus WWI had left many young people without dads and mothers.
Then came the dust storms and the great depression which lasted for many, about 2 decades.
Oh yeah, let's not forget WWII which left more young people without fathers.
And, there was that nasty little Korean Police action which left more young people without fathers and too often, mothers.
But, most of those young people survived because they had to work in order to eat. So, they didn't have time to think about how bad they had it.
However, there was another thing to consider and that is, most all everyday working class Americans were in the same boat, just riding out the storm. But, their, (Our), greatest advantage was that, we didn't have television, cell phones, computer games, porno, child molesters and drugs to unduly influence our lives. The results was that there were far fewer suicides per capita than now. And, of course, there's that un-talked about "God" thing that we had which, is practically nonexistent in today's younger crowd.
So, Nadx I appreciate your compassionate suggestion regarding the subject grandson. And, I agree that his state of mind is not entirely his fault. Because, he is purely a product of his generation. But, I still like to think of the "Greatest Generation" as being just that.
Now, y'all a good day, ya heah ............gfp
