Do you have spedies where you're at?
I'm originally from Endicott so they were a staple in my diet!

Not Mud,but i.m gonna horn in any way. Here in the Finger Lakes,I guess Cato is still considered FL , Salt Potatoes are the regional delicacy. I am originally from Nichols, went to elementary school in Appalachin. Endwell used to have it's "Enna-Jetic" (after the shoe) festival and spedies were the big thing.
All the festivals aroundhere feature chicken with Cornell Sauce.

or was it Endicott? the town with the arch?

My father was an IBMer as was lots of family. Others worked at EJs.
I do see salt potatoes at cookouts in the Norwich area east of you.
My Mom is from Owego and Dad from Candor.
Got my friend spiedies last year and the first thing he did was put ketchup on them.
Fond memories of catching world record fish in Grandma's crick in Candor!

The state fair is the only place I've seen them advertised. I've heard of 'Spedie Sauce'. Can't say I know what a 'spedie' is. I rarely go to the fair, but when I do, I love Gyros.

Salt potatos are good too. I only use half the recommended amount of salt that most folks use. Still great. Now I'm hungry. :D
