Beautiful bushes! I have a bunch of amur maples that turn red like that in the fall; they're also beautiful for a few days. I have some spirea bushes around the house that turned color overnight, too, a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, the color was white -- the kind you have to shovel.
Come on littleguns, that red color will show through the snow... won't it?
I think they look great, nadx. Any splash of color is well appreciated this time of year. Up here they are called 'burning bushes' too. I like what your Ma calls them. Flame bushes. Red maples are nice too, but like Pitch said, our leaves are going away.
